Tillie Van Kekerix

Tillie Van Kekerix, age 95, formerly of Colton, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Dells Area Health Center. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Christian Reformed Church, Colton. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Monday, with the family present from 6:30-8 P.M. at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.


Tillie was born September 28, 1912 to Peter and Mary (Baron) Van Der Woude in Doon, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Doon. She was baptized in the Doon Christian Reformed Church.


Tillie was united in marriage to Kryn Van Kekerix on February 23, 1938 in Sioux Falls. To this union two sons were born. She spent most of her life living in and around the Colton area, enjoying crocheting, quilting and braiding rugs, which she often gave for church bazaars. She was a member of the Colton Christian Reformed Church, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary of Winner.


Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 70 years, Kryn Van Kekerix, Dell Rapids: sons: Kenneth K. (Sandy), Witten, SD and Marvin, Colton and his special friend Judy Bosma, Sioux Falls; brother, Bert Vander Woude, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law, Florence Van Kekerix, Colton, Dorothy Van Kekerix, Hartford, Grace Van Kekerix, Colton and Nellie Zacharias, Hartford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Florence DeGroot and Minnie Slob; and a brother, Bill Vander Woude.
