Dean Brockberg, 70, of Sioux Falls died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Avera Dougherty House.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday with the family present from 6-8:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Dean was born March 7, 1938 at Luverne, Minnesota to parents Alvin and Phyllis (Heckt) Brockberg. He attended country school near Pipestone and later graduated from Edgerton High School. After his education he worked for Fecker’s Egg Hatchery.
Dean married Julette Johnson May 4, 1962 in Pipestone, Minnesota. They made home in Sioux Falls, where he worked for Raven Industries from 1962 until 1988. He then started a fiberglass coffin liner business which he ran until 1996. He then worked for Jim Hawk Truck Trailer and part time for C & C Manufacturing until ill health forced his retirement.
Dean enjoyed being outside mowing and loved sports. He played softball, bowled on several leagues, and loved to watch the Minnesota Twin and Vikings. He also loved Polka Dancing.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julette Brockberg, Sioux Falls; a brother, Keith (Gay) Brockberg, Marshall, Minnesota; five sisters, Patricia (George) Larson, Mapleton, Minnesota; Carol (Jim) Stout. Pipestone, Minnesota; Karla (Ron) Ackerman, Fridley, Minnesota; Donna (Mike) Wetteland, Edina, Minnesota; Annette (Doug) Dubbelde, Pipestone, Minnesota; two sisters in law, Gladys Buttolph, Crystal, Minnesota; and Shirley (Tom) Wagner, Pasco, Washington; 13 nieces, 17 nephews, 16 great nieces, 28 great nephews, and 2 great great nieces, 4 great great nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in law, Gilbert and Myrtle Johnson, two great nephews, Ian Brockberg and Ryan Larson, his grandparents, two brothers in law, Jack Buttolph and Leroy Kasma.
