Barbara Boeve Schmidt, 70 of Sioux Falls formerly of Baltic died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Covington Heights in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Baltic.

Barb was born June 26, 1937 in Lawrence, Kansas to parents Fred and Ruby Mae (Black) Weeks. She grew up in Lecompton, Kansas. She married Al Boeve October 4, 1957. To this union three children were born, Randy, Debra and Steve. She married Dale Schmidt on July 17, 1998. Barb worked construction and also for the carnival for 5 years. Her favorite job was escorting trailers because she loved meeting people. She lived in Baltic, South Dakota, Lecompton, Kansas, Atchison, Kansas, and then moved to Sioux Falls.

Her hobbies were jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and baking banana bread. She was a member of the Women of Today, where she served as director, vice president, and chaplain on the local level. She received the Outstanding Member of the Year by the state association.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Dale Schmidt, Sioux Falls; her children and their spouses, Randy & Jean Boeve, Sioux Falls; Debra & Kermit Eastman, Sioux Falls; Steve & Lori Boeve, Baltic; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; two step sons, Roger Schmidt and his wife Lauri, Boise, Idaho; Ronald Schmidt, Sioux Falls; a brother, Bob Weeks, Lecompton, Kansas; two sisters, Betty Beckwith, Carbondale, Kansas; Ann Hibner, Springville, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and her ex-husband.
