Dorothy Skotvold, 76 of Colton died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Madison. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 17, 2007 at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, rural Colton. Burial will be in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Colton. Visitation with the family present will be from 7-8:00 pm Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.
Dorothy Rose was born August 17, 1930 near Rock Valley, Iowa to parents Herman and Sophie (Schwartz) Schoellerman. She attended country school near Fairview, South Dakota and attended Canton High School. She worked as an aid at the Canton Hospital.
Dorothy married Edwin Skotvold June 22, 1949 at Baltic Lutheran Church with Reverend E.L. Benson presiding. The couple farmed near Center, Lennox, and Centerville before moving to their farm near Colton in 1967. Ed passed away March 14, 2003.
Dorothy was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Valley. She was a very active member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed flowers and garendening.
Dorothy passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Madison, South Dakota at the age of 76.
Grateful for having shared her life are a son, Gene Skotvold, Colton; two daughters, Angela (Robert) Dressen, Centerville; Dawn Skotvold, Howard; three grandchildren, Carie (Mike) Stiefvater, Salem; Rob (Lori) Dressen, Centerville; Rochelle (Kyle) Murphy, Dell Rapids; four great grandchildren, Hadley & Ella Stiefvater, and Kylie Dressen & Kane Murphy; a brother, Lawrence Schoellerman, Fairview; a sister, Emma Whitten, Washington and many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; parents; grandson, Luke; and eight brothers and sisters.
