. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 2, 2006 at United Methodist Church in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in the Hartford Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
Earl Martin was born June 24, 1919 in the Hartford – Colton area to parents Clarence and Inga (Haugse) Aldrich. He rode his pony to school in Colton, Crooks, and later Hartford Public School. He always had chores to do before and after school as well as helping his father with the farming. Earl was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Colton.
Earl married Martha Kampf on November 28, 1942 at United Methodist Church in Hartford. They farmed for 25 years northwest of Hartford, and then in 1967 they purchased a farm in the Baltic-Dell Rapids area where they lived until retiring in 1982.
Earl enjoyed taking his family to horse shows and fairs. He was a good, kind man and liked helping his family and friends when ever he could. He was a member of Community Riders Saddle Club, Odd Fellows in Hartford, United Methodist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club, Dells Rocky Run Golf Course, and was on the Baltic Farmers Elevator Board for 9 years.
Earl passed away Thursday, September 28,2006 at Dells Area Health Center at the age of 87.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Martha, Dell Rapids; daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Dennis Krier, Sioux Falls; son, Donald Aldrich and his wife, Susan, Renner; 5 grandchildren, Renae Pekas, Aja Goff, Ainsley Aldrich, Christie Burke, and Kelly Vietor; 4 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Pekas, Hayden Goff, Jackson Burke, and Lauren Burke; and many other relatives and friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents.
