Marjorie was born December 25, 1921 to parents Henry and Ann (Lewin) Peterson near Hartford, South Dakota. She attended the Johnson Country School District #54 and graduated from Hartford High School in 1940. After her education she moved to Sioux Falls and worked at Manchesters Biscuit Company.
Marjorie married George D. Carpenter on August 23, 1946 at Brookings, South Dakota. They lived and farmed near Crooks. She worked with George in the DeKalb Seed Corn business and helped with the livestock. They retired in 1981 and moved into Crooks. Marjorie’s love for her family was evident every day. She warmly welcomed all family and friends into her home; the coffee pot was always on. Her second love was gardening, she would plan where each flower would be planted and come spring she had the most beautiful flower garden. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and the many trips that she and George took together. Marjorie was also a 40 year cancer survivor.
She was a long time member of the West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks.
