Grace V. Van Kekerix
September 4, 1922 — April 9, 2010
Grace V. Van Kekerix, 87, of Colton died Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Dells Area Health Center in Dell Rapids.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Grace was born September 4, 1922 on the family farm near Colton to parents Harvey and Lena (Schlieman) Powell. She attended Lyons Grade School. She married Bert Van Kekerix February 9, 1944 in Colton. After their marriage they farmed in the Crooks-Hartford area. Bert died August 19, 1981. After his death she moved with her son to her family farm near Colton.
Grace was a member of Benton Lutheran Church and the Bentonetts Extension Club.
Grace truly enjoyed all animals, especially her cats, dogs and chickens.
Grace was very thankful to all of her neighbors for everything that they did for her and her family over the years.
She is survived by her son, Roger Van Kekerix, Colton; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Cloen, John, Russell, and Overton Powell.
