Lynette Marie Johnson

Lynette Marie Johnson, 67, of Baltic, died Wednesday August 23, 2006 at the Dells Area Health Center. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, Monday, August 28, 2006 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday, August 27, at Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Memorials may be directed to the East Nidaros Building Fund.


Lynette was born to Oscar and Georgia (Olson) Sjoland on November 2, 1938 in Madison, South Dakota. She married Ivan Johnson on January 4, 1959 in Madison. She worked in various nursing homes until 1991 when she began working in the housekeeping department at the Laurel Oaks Independent Living Apartments. She retired in February 2004.

Lynette enjoyed working outside with her flowers and her garden. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of needlework. She also enjoyed watching the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves and NASCAR racing.

Survivors include her husband, Ivan, Baltic; children: Debra (Brian) Karlson, Sioux Falls, Steve (Terri) Johnson, Peoria, AZ, Brenda (Keith) Bergum, Sioux Falls, and Kevin Johnson and his special friend Kimberly Wendt, Sioux Falls; four grandchildren: Kari, Laura, Cody and Bryce; three sisters: Donna (Bill) Elston, Dell Rapids, Sandy Sjoland, Rapid City, and Gayla Bain, Nashville, TN; three brothers: David (Gerri) Sjoland, Tuscon, AZ, and Mike Sjoland, Howard, SD, and Bob (Vonda) Sjoland, Livingston, TX; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
