Carol Jean Hermanson, 59, of Garretson, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Avera-McKennan Hospice in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the Sioux Falls Seventh-Day Adventist Church. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 7-9:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Sioux Falls Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Carol was born on November 11, 1946, at Rapid City, South Dakota as the third oldest daughter of Arthur “Bud” Gerard and Vernilla Adeline (Schumacher) Knudsen. She attended Lowell Elementary, Patrick Henry Jr. High and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1965.

Carol married Robin Hermanson on December 21, 1974 in Sioux Falls. She attended South Dakota State University from 1976-1978, where she studied child development. Carol and Robin adopted Jonathon R. Hermanson in 1986 and James A. Hermanson in 1989. Carol worked as secretary/treasurer at Vesco, Inc. for EROS Data Center for 25 years and helped Robin on the farm.

Carol was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson, where she taught Sunday School, and was a Luther League Volunteer.


Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Robin of Garretson; sons, Jonathan R. Hermanson and James A. Hermanson, both of Garretson; sisters, Sanra K. Richter of Tempe, Arizona, Bonnie L. and her husband Clarence “Oscy” W. Oscarson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Patty and her husband Chuck Wagner of Canton, South Dakota, Cheryl and her husband Mark Ruter of Montrose, South Dakota; a brother Larry and his wife Maureen Andre-Knudsen of Edina, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.


Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew Heath Allen Richter, and her father-in-law, Eric Hermanson.
