Jeanette Van Liere

Jeanette Van Liere, 80, of Dell Rapids passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family Saturday, May 1, 2010.

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Reformed Church of Dell Rapids with burial in Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday; the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Prayer service at 7:00 PM at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.

Jeanette was born June 26, 1929 in Hawarden, Iowa to parents John and Grace Bos. She married Adrian Van Liere June 21, 1949. Together they raised their own eight children and two of Jeanette’s brothers. When the triplets were born and Jeanette had a family of six small children, she finally demanded running water in the house so that she did not have to haul water from the cistern and heat it on the stove to wash diapers and bathe children.

Jeanette loved above all having her family gather around and never cooked in a small pot. She wrapped her children in quilts made with love by her own hands. An accomplished seamstress, Jeanette left heirloom crocheted table clothes and curtains for her children.

Jeanette is survived by her husband of sixty years, Adrian, Dell Rapids; siblings, Clarence Bos, Andy Bos, Johnny Bos, Hank Bos and Richard Bos; seven children, Marilyn (Richard) Scales, Edmunds, WA; Darrel (Carla), Maple Grove, MN; Ruth (Bill) Schurger, Wenatche, WA; Jerry (Chiqui), Alamogordo, NM; Joyce, Dell Rapids; Paul, Dell Rapids and Wayne (Gina), Dell Rapids; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim and five siblings, Margaret, Elsie, Ralph, Wilbur and Chuck
