Pearl Thompson

January 26, 1912 — January 4, 2007

Pearl Thompson, 94 of Baltic died Thursday, January 04, 2007 at Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in Colton. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday at the church. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sioux Valley Hospice.

Pearl was born January 26, 1912 to parents John and Berthine (Loraas) Tonseth in Lyons, South Dakota. She attended Lyons High School and was a member of the school’s basketball team.

Pearl married William “Bill” Thompson October 2, 1930 at Baltic Lutheran Church. Together they lived and farmed most of their married life in the Colton and Baltic area. Pearl also worked at Fenn’s Candy Company and JC Penney in Sioux Falls.

She will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to her husband, family, and friends. She was known for her generosity, her excellent cooking, making crafts, flowers gardening, and her joyful laugh. Pearl will forever be loved by those who were fortunate to have known her throughout her long life.

Pearl was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and ladies aid in Colton.

Pearl died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Harold Thompson and his wife Joanne, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Shirley Hanson, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Judy Ordal and her husband Merle, Hartford; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Berdyne Bosler and her husband Harold, Sioux Falls and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on March 20, 2002, a son, Clifford, a grandson, Robi Hanson, and two sisters.
