Gunda M. Blastervold

Gunda M. Blastervold, 92 of Sioux Falls died Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospice. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Baltic Lutheran Church, Baltic. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery, Baltic. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.

Gunda was born December 10, 1914 at Colton to parents August and Christine (Berjan) Thompson. She attended grade school in Colton and moved with her family to Baltic In 1928. She graduated from Baltic High School in 1932. She married Gilmer Dregseth on September 13, 1934 in Baltic, he died in 1963. She moved to Sioux Falls in 1949. She married Guy Blastervold February 1, 1951 in Sioux Falls, he died on March 3, 1990.

While living in Sioux Falls Gunda worked at Fantle’s, Northern Natural Gas, Sioux Falls Library, and then for the City of Sioux Falls Water Department.

Gunda loved to sing, dance, and have a good laugh.

Grateful for having shared her life are a daughter, Gaila Hammer and her husband, Don, Irving, Texas; three grandchildren, Randy Hammer and his wife Tracy and their son Alan; Donna Morrell, and Kathy Hammer; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
