Laura M. Groos

Laura Groos, 90, of Sioux Falls, formerly from Dell Rapids passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 PM Monday, January 22, 2007 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday with a Wake service at 4:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids. The family will be present from 3 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to an Alzheimers Foundation.

Laura Elizabeth was born September 5, 1916 in Pipestone County, Minnesota to parents Henry and Alvina (Ludolph) Lange. She married Leo Groos in Colman, South Dakota on November 26, 1940. The couple farmed near Colman for several years before moving to Dell Rapids in December of 1947. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1976 and then to Wichita, Kansas in March of 1984. Leo passed away July 8, 1984. Laura returned to Sioux Falls in 1985. She was employed at the IOOF Home in Dell Rapids and the Stockyards Café in Sioux Falls.

Laura passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community at the age of 90.

Grateful for having shared her life are four children, Dean and his wife Lenita Groos, Sioux Falls; Richard and his wife Lupe Groos, Santee, CA; Irene and her husband John Beyers, Georgetown, TX; Sylvia and her husband Barton Herheim, Wichita, KS; nineteen grandchildren, Jeffrey; Dawn; Bryon; Christine; Lyle; Patrick; Darin; Stephanie; Steven; Theresa; Richard; Susie; Matthew; Melissa; Jessica; Timmy; Tammy; Richard; Jenny; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers; and three sisters.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband Leo; grandchild Sally Groos; four brothers; and two sisters.
