Naomi Froseth, age 77, of Garretson, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2007, at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will begin at 3:00 PM with the family present from 6-8:00 PM Monday, March 5 at Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
Naomi Darlene Froseth was born on August 18, 1929 at Dell Rapids, South Dakota to Edward and Tilda (Hill) Johnson. She grew in Dell Rapids and was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. In 1947 Naomi graduated from Dell Rapids Public High School. Following her graduation she worked in the Minnehaha County Treasurer’s Office until 1952.
On May 19, 1951 Naomi married Eugene Froseth at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. The couple lived in Sioux Falls until moving to Rapid City when Eugene was called into Active Duty in the National Guard. The couple then moved to the Garretson Area where they spent the rest of their lives. Later in life, Naomi worked at the South Dakota Tourist Information Center near Valley Springs.
Naomi was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson and Zion Lutheran WELCA. She was active in singing and 4-H until her family required more of her efforts. She avidly followed Duke Basketball and the Minnesota Twins. Most of all, Naomi enjoyed spending time with her family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Eugene of Garretson; two daughters: Nancy (Francis) Stanisz of Centennial, CO and Dawn (Richard) Simansons of Arvada CO; three sons: Reed (Lisa) Froseth of Owatonna, MN; Daniel (Gwen) Froseth of Woodbury, MN and Tom Froseth of Englewood, CO and his special friend, Jenny Kunz; grandchildren: Bessie & Julia Stanisz; Katrina & Alex Simansons; Kristine Froseth; and Sam & Lauren Froseth; and two sisters: Nin Johnson of Dell Rapids and Marlene Peckham of White Bear Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edward and Glen; and a sister, Alma "Tupp" Weelborg.
