Katheryn Roemen

Katheryn Roemen, 46, of Renner passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Blessed Redeemer Lutheran Church in Brandon. Burial will be in East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Monday, January 22, 2007 at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids. The family will be present from 5 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Stem Cell Research Foundation.

Katheryn Ann was born January 25, 1960 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents Lester and Ardith (Halseth) Neumann. She grew up in rural Renner, SD and attended Dell Rapids Public High School. After graduation she married Mark Van Der Vliet and the couple resided in Colton, SD. The union was blessed with two beautiful children.

Kathy married Glenn Roemen of Larchwood, IA in 1984. They lived in rural Brandon, SD until 1995 when they moved to her childhood home in Renner. Through the years she was employed at Citibank, Bankfirst, Ravens, and most recently Metabank. Kathy was known for her can do attitude, bubbly personality, and contagious laugh.

Kathy’s passions in life were Sprint Car Racing, NASCAR, camping trips, snowmobiling, and being with family and friends. Most recently she was greatly looking forward to becoming a grandma in June of 2007.

Kathy passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview after a long courageous battle with Leukemia at the age of 46.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 23 years, Glenn Roemen, Renner; her children, Shane Van Der Vliet (Laura Davis), Tulsa, OK and Crystal Van Der Vliet (Dane Christensen), Hartford, SD; special grandbaby in June; and many other relatives and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law Edward Roemen.
