James E. Breyfogle

James E. Breyfogle, 74 of Garretson died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 27, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Garretson. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

James E. Breyfogle was born on March 27, 1933 at Calumet, Iowa to John and Rose (Byrd) Breyfogle. He graduated from Canby High School and served in the United States Army form 1951 to 1955.


On April 16, 1956, James was united in marriage to Clarissa Wigton in Marshall, Minnesota. He was a mechanic and a die hard hobby farmer. In his later years he worked for the South Dakota State Parks.


Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 51 years, Clarissa, Garretson, five children, James (Molly) Breyfogle, Sioux Falls; Mary Lane, Sioux Falls; Becky (Dean) Caton, Yankton; Charles (Lucille) Breyfogle, Dell Rapids; Cindy (Dean) Olson, Garretson; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Verdean Nelson, Victorville, California; four brothers, Delbert, Phillip, Fronze, and Darrell, all of Tauton, Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-laws and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Evelyn, Clara, Pete, Joe, and Mary Lavonne.
