Antonia Vander Plaats

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Saturday, December 9, 2006 at First Reformed Church, Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Friday with the family present from 7-8:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.

Antonia was born August 27, 1922 in Colton to parents Gerrit and Jennie (Hein) Reurink. She grew up in Colton and attended Colton Grade School.

She married John Vander Plaats August 14, 1941 at First Reformed Church in Colton. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Colton-Hartford area.

She was an active member of the First Reformed Church, where she served as organist for many years. She and John enjoyed dancing and traveling to many of the states and to Holland.

Toni died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids where she has been a resident since July of 2002.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, John, Dell Rapids; a daughter, Marcia Theel and her husband Gerrit, Hartford, a son, Roger Vander Plaats, Hartford; three granddaughters, April Theel, Bobbi Galloway and her husband Greg, and Crystal Theel and her fiancé J. Ryan Serna; a brother, Frank Reurink and his wife Delores, Arizona; four sisters, Fannie Deelstra, Colton; Dorothy Vander Weerd and her husband, Henry, Rock Rapids, Iowa; Jeanette Farr and her husband Earl, Colton; Carrie Hanneman and her husband Don, Dell Rapids; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert in 1976; a sister, Frances Prince; and a brother, Henry.
