Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 9, 2006 at St. Joseph The Workman Catholic Church, Huntimer, rural Colton. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 PM Friday at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids, resuming at 6:30 PM at the church, with a wake service at 8:30 PM.
Lucille Mae Rotering was born May 12, 1928 in Arcadia, WI to Albin and Margaret (Schlesser) Rotering. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1946.
On June 16, 1953 she united in marriage to Walter W. George and moved to South Dakota. The couple farmed near Chester. They retired in 1987 and moved into Chester.
Lucille enjoyed working as a cook for the Chester Area High School for many years, as well as being an active member of St. Joseph The Workman Parish. Her favorite pastimes were her family and friends, gardening, cooking, and quilting.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Walter, Chester; five children, James and Lori George, Chester; Susan and Lyle Swan, Dayton, OH; Barbara and Kevin Uthe, Sioux Falls; Kay (Mark) Mackey, Sioux Falls; and William (Peg) George, Chester; seven grandchildren, Teresa and Brad Reitmair; Amy and Chris Bates; Mike (Julia) Swan; Christopher George; Jonathan (Jessi) George; Kari Uthe; and Jacob Uthe; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard and Dorothy Rotering, Independence, WI and Robert and Gladys Rotering, Alma, WI; and a sister, Marcella Schlesser, LeMars, IA.
Her parents, Albin and Margaret; three brothers, Roman; Alvin; and David; one sister, Ruth Ruhland preceded Lucille in death.
