J.C. McGee, 89, of Colton passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 9, 2010 after an extended illness.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Monday, December 13, 2010 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Crooks. Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 to 3:30 PM Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the church.
J.C. was born July 30, 1921 on the McGee homestead in the McGee Cove near McMinnville, Tennessee to parents Lester and Mary Burton McGee. In 1930 he moved with his family by train to the Artesian-Fedora area. In 1934 the family moved to a farm north of Sioux Falls. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1939.
On November 27, 1943 J.C. married his high school sweetheart, Eunice Berven. They lived at Sioux Falls, Baltic, Garretson and Trent before moving to their present farm at Colton 52 years ago.
J.C. was a member of the East Nidaros Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Eunice, Colton; a daughter, Deb Langrehr and her husband Tom, Hartford; a grandson, Lars Langrehr, three granddaughters, Tiffany (Chris) Wynia, Jami (Lorin) Kruse, and Joy C. Langrehr; five GGs Jenna C., Jayden, Elizabeth, Codie, and MacKenzie; two sisters in law, Lois Schwartz and Sigrun McGee; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth, a son, Ron who passed away three months ago.
