Art Moe, 93, of Renner died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
Arthur Orville Moe was born December 23, 1913 on the family farm near Renner to parents Bennie and Emma (Brende) Moe. He grew up in the Renner area and attended Thompson Country School. Art entered the United States Army in 1942 and served during World War II. After his discharge in 1943 he returned to the farm. He retired from John Morrell and Company after 32 years.
Art was an active member of the West Nidaros Lutheran Church, Baltic American Legion, Baltic, Crooks & Renner Senior Citizens, Sons of Norway, Dakota Heritage, and the Minnehaha Historical Society.
Grateful for having shared his life are two brothers, Bennie and his wife, Colleen, Custer; James and his wife Lois, Crooks; four sisters, Ella Aasen, Dell Rapids; Eunice Thompson and her husband, Howard, Vancouver, WA. Florence Selland, Doris Ernst, both of Sioux Falls; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dennis and a sister, Sena Oaks.
