John O. Leum

John “Johnny” Leum, 72, of Dell Rapids passed away Sunday, February 04, 2007 at Dells Area Health Center. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Burial will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM Tuesday with the family present at 6 PM and an I.O.O.F. service at 7 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.

John was born March 15, 1934 at Dell Rapids, South Dakota to parents Oscar M. and Esther (Trelstad) Leum. He was raised and attended school in Dell Rapids. John married Carol Jean Burgers July 2, 1966 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. The couple resided in Dell Rapids since their marriage.

John was baptized, confirmed, attended Sunday school, and was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge 8, Rebecca Lodge 21, and Dell Rapids Senior Citizens. He was a driver for Harry’s Produce for 30 years and Ed’s Produce for 8 years before retiring. John enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool, and working with wood.

John passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Dells Area Health Center at the age of 72.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Carol Jean Leum, Dell Rapids; son, Randy Leum and his wife Lisa, Dell Rapids; sisters, Alice Colman and Ardella Scheel, both of Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Irene.
