Mabel A. Mitchell

Mabel Mitchell, 103, of Sioux Falls formerly of Hartford died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, July 13, 2007 at St. George Catholic Church, Hartford. Burial will be in the St. George Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday July 12, 2007 at the church with a Wake Service at 7:30 PM.

Mabel was born October 17, 1903 to parents John and Maria (Eliason) Brurud at rural Canton. She attended country school there and later enrolled at Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. She was employed in Sioux Falls until her marriage to John W. Mitchell on August 12, 1925 in Worthing, South Dakota. They were engaged in farming until they retired into Hartford in 1969. John died December 15, 1975. Mabel moved to Sioux Falls in 1977.

Mabel was a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux Falls.

Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Duane McMahon, Sioux Falls; Barbara and William Miller, Olympia, Washington; six grandchildren, Patricia Drake, David, Mark & Tom McMahon, Mike Miller and Mary Stephens; seven great grandchildren, Chris & Cariann Drake, Lacey & Kendal McMahon, Connor & Alison McMahon, and Claire Stephens; and several nieces and nephews.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Jack and Wallace.
