June M. Rothenbuehler, 81, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Garretson passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the United Church of Garretson. Burial will be in Summit Hill Cemetery, rural Garretson. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Monday at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson.
June M. Martens, daughter of Henry and Jenny (Meier) Martens, was born August 30, 1926 in Garretson, South Dakota. She attended school in Garretson and graduated from Garretson High School in 1944. After high school she worked in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she met and married Calvin Rothenbuehler on July 28, 1947. June was a housewife and mother while her children were growing up and later worked as a teacher’s aide at both Franklin Elementary School in Sioux Falls and Renberg School in Renner. She was very active in her church, first at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and later at her family church, the United Church in Garretson, South Dakota.
June is survived by two sons, Michael and his wife Dorothy; and Thomas and his wife Connie; a daughter, Kim and her husband Michael Knopf; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Martens; a sister, Betty Greinke; and many other relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Cal; a grandson, Joshua Knopf; a brother, Charles; and sisters, Ardyce Warren and Ann Tronson.
