Max Crisp, 75, of Dell Rapids died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in Garretson at Palisade Manor where he had been a resident for six months. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in West Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Crooks. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P. M. Friday with the family present at 4:00 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church.
Max was born January 31, 1931 in Moody County, the son of Harry and Ethel (Thomson) Crisp. He attended school in Dell Rapids, graduating in 1949. After graduation he farmed with his father and two brothers until he was called for duty in the U.S. Army. He served his country for twenty-two months, mostly in Germany.
Max married Dianne Moe from Baltic on June 24, 1956. They farmed until they retired in 1995. The couple had four children.
Max was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. He served fourteen years on the Dell Rapids School Board and several years on the Enterprise Township Board. He was an avid antique tractor collector and enjoyed going to farm shows and sales.
Max passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Palisade Manor in Garretson where he was a resident for six months at the age of 75.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Dianne, Dell Rapids; children; David Crisp and his wife Charlotte, Spearfish; Scott Crisp and his wife Karen, Dell Rapids; Mark Crisp and his wife Maria, Dell Rapids; Mary and her husband Charlie Anderson, Baltic; seven grandchildren, J.D.; Amber; Courtney; Josh; Nicole; Aaron; Greg; one great-granddaughter, Quinn; siblings, Lucile and her husband Howard Daugaard, Sioux Falls; Ralph Crisp and his wife Lorna, Omaha, NE; Robert Crisp and his wife Byrne, Dell Rapids; Reginald Crisp and his wife Villette, Dell Rapids; Harriet and her husband Arnold Brown, Flagstaff, AZ; brother-in-law Andrew Burkhart, Sioux Falls; five nieces; eight nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and a niece.
