Wayne Edward Mortenson

Wayne E. Mortenson, 47 of Colton died Wednesday, July 12, 2007 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Taopi Community Hall in Colton. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Friday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.


Wayne Edward Mortenson was born September 5, 1959 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to parents Victor and Ann Mortenson. He moved with his parents to Pierre where they lived until moving to Sioux Falls In 1965. Wayne graduated from Washington High School in 1977. After his graduation he attended Vo Tech School in Springfield. They then returned to Sioux Falls and worked as heavy equipment mechanic for Friessen Construction, J. D. Evans, and Myrl and Roy’s.


Wayne married Pamela Palmer May 28, 1993 in Madison. After their marriage they lived in the Colton area.


Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, his animals and spending time with his family and friends.


Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Pam, Colton; his son Ashley (Andrea) Mortenson, Ottumwa, IA. His granddaughter, Avenley Mortenson, Ottumwa, IA; his parents, Vic & Ann Mortenson, Sioux Falls; a brother, Mark Mortenson, Sioux Falls; a brother in law, David (Rachelle) Palmer, Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends.
