Gregory H. Clercx

Gregory H. Clercx, 85 of Sioux Falls died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Avera McKennan Hospice. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2006 at St. Lamberts Catholic Church, Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM with the family present at 6:00 PM Thursday with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.

Gregory was born November 29, 1920 at Larchwood, Iowa to parents P. W. and Margaret (Snyders) Clercx. He grew up on the family farm near Larchwood and attended St. Mary’s Grade School. After his education he farmed until 1959. He then worked as a manager for Sunshine Foods Warehouse in Sioux Falls for 20 years. He then worked for Neuberg Grocery Broker until retiring in 1989. Greg married Vicky Howe on August 20, 1994 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, Baltic. After their marriage they lived east of Renner.

Greg was a drummer for the Pete Erickson Orchestra for numerous years. He also enjoyed horses, music, dancing and reading.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Vicky, Sioux Falls; a brother, Al Clercx, Sioux Falls; eleven nieces and nephews; three step children, Verla Borgen and her husband Darrell, Hartford; Dennis Howe and his wife Barb, Houston, TX; Donald Howe and his wife Theresa, Lincoln, NE; eight step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; sisters in law, Leola Clercx, Jasper, MN; Mary Clercx, Rock Rapids, IA; and special friends, Alicia Richards and Dan Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank, John, and Joe and sisters, Ann and Mary Agnes.
