Lester Henry Arneson

Lester Arneson, age 92, of Dell Rapids, formerly of Colton, died on April 4, 2006, at the Dells Area Health Center, Dell Rapids. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 6, 2006, at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, rural Colton. Visitations with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.

Lester Henry Arneson was born on December 13, 1913, in the Colton-Montrose Area to parents Ole and Belle (Anderson) Arneson. He attended Maple Grove Country School near Buffalo Trading Post. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After his discharge, Lester farmed in the Buffalo Trading Post area until retiring to Colton. He moved to Orchard Hills in 2003 and to Terrace Manor in September 2005. Lester was a lifelong member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, rural Colton.

Survivors include his brother, Marlin Arneson, Sioux Falls; nephew, David Arneson, Sioux Falls; nieces, Darlene (Rev. Henry) Ramus, Dearborn, Michigan, Nancy Arneson, Sioux Falls, and Sara Arneson, Sioux Falls. Lester was preceded in death by his brother, Orville, and sisters, Clara Heng, and Alice Hoff.
