Labelle Jo Brende

LaBelle Brende, 76, of Renner died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at her home. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner, SD. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2009 at the church.

LaBelle was born May 12, 1933 in Sioux Falls to Jack and Lilly (Nessan) Wilson. She moved with her family to many places and later graduated from Washington High School.

LaBelle married Elmer Brende Jr. October 12, 1956 in Sioux Falls, after which they lived in Renner. LaBelle worked for the United States Postal Service as one of the first women rural carriers in South Dakota. Elmer died November 14, 2003.

She was a member of the Renner Lutheran Church, WELCA, Christian Women and the Beta Sigma Phi. She also volunteered at the Renner Monarch baseball games.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Shawn (Pierce) Wilson, Des Moines, Iowa; Scott (Sandy) Brende, Renner; Shanna Brende, Kansas City, Missouri; Brett (Kelly) Brende, Leawood, Kansas; her grandchildren, Ashlee, Jordan, Evan, Ethan, Jenna, Austin, Noah, and Cooper; and her mother, Lilly Wilson, Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, father and a sister, Karen.

Memorials may be directed to the Renner Lutheran Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
