Christine Ericksen

Christine Ericksen, age 80, of Garretson, died on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Christine was born on February 23, 1929, to Andrew and Margaret (Beyer) TenBraak at Doon, Iowa. On September 1, 1948, she married Palmer Ericksen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They made their home in Fairview, South Dakota until 1959 when they moved to the Garretson area. They farmed in the area until 1987 when they moved into town. Palmer died on March 24, 1999.

Christine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson, where she was involved with Ladies Aid and Circle. She was also a member of the Garretson Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons: Charles of Garretson and Mark of Hazel; two grandchildren: Matthew (Myla) Westergard of Sioux Falls and Kim (Brian) Ellerton of Custer; a great-granddaughter, Karyn Ellerton; brothers: Chris (Judy) TenBraak of Wichita, KS and Andy (Glorianne) TenBraak of Rapid City; sisters: Martha Anderson of Doon, IA and Jen (Robert) Stallman of Hartley, IA; sisters-in-law: Carole TenBraak of Sheldon, IA, Jennie TenBraak of Doon, and Florence Morgan of Daytona Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Steve; a daughter, Karen and two brothers: Henry and Richard.
