Gwendolyn M. Farley, 87 of Renner died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Covington Heights in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2006 with the family present from 7-8:00 P.M. at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery, rural Crooks.
Gwen was born August 30, 1918 at Morefield, South Dakota to parents Peter and Gertrude (Wylie) Nustad. She grew up near Morefield and attended country school near there. She later graduated from Washington High School. She married the love of her life Lester Farley on March 29, 1940 in Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in the Valley Springs-Brandon area until moving to Renner in 1947. She was the Renner Postmaster from 1957 until her retirement in 1979. She was an active member of the Renner Lutheran Church and the Renner Senior Citizens. She also wrote the Renner Ramblings for the Baltic Beacon for many years. Lester died January 8, 2004.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Don Farley, Sioux Falls; Richard Farley and his wife Celia, Rapid City; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Josh, Aaron, Darin, Danielle, and Dana; thirteen great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Gertrude; and a stepmother, Lillian.
