Joyce Ann Skancke, 78, of Baltic died Friday, December 11, 2009 at her home.
Private family burial will be held at the St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Baltic. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Baltic Lutheran Church, Baltic. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Monday with the family present from 6-8:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Joyce was born September 4, 1931 near Worthing in Lincoln County to parents Thorval and Jennie (Swenson) Olson. She attended Baltic High School. Joyce married Leo G. “Bud” Skancke December 19, 1948 in Baltic. After their marriage they continued to live in and near Baltic.
Joyce was a member of the Baltic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, flowers, dancing, music and going to rummage sales. But the joy in life were family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Leo G. Skancke, Baltic; children, Brenda (Kevin) Bernhardt, Waseca, MN; Ronald (Vickey Lundstrom) Skancke, Baltic; Gloria (Greg) Johnson, Sioux Falls; Daryl (Margue Fenner) Sioux Falls; Michael Skancke, Baltic; Patty (Nancy Clary) Skancke, Rapid City; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth (Cleo) Olson, Baltic; two sisters, Dorothy (Don ) Anderson, Yankton; Ruth (James) Haugen) Haugen, Baltic and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial may be directed to the St. Olaf Cemetery.
