Lucille Ardina Albers

June 11, 1924 — April 18, 2006

Lucille A. Albers, 81, of Garretson, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Palisade Manor in Garretson. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 21, at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Visitation with the family present will from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 20, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Lucille Ardina Albers was born on June 11, 1924 to Louis and Anna (Stangeland) Stave at New Effington, South Dakota. She was married to Raymond Quamen on May 27, 1944 in New Effington. Following their marriage they lived in the Britton, South Dakota area. Lucille married Erville Albers on April 20, 1962 at Watertown. After Erville’s death, Lucille moved to the Garretson area in July 1967. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Garretson Farmers Elevator, Palisade Manor Nursing Home and various other places.

Lucille was a very talented woman known for beautiful cakes. She was also very proficient at crocheting, knitting and upholstery. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and served on many various committees.

Grateful for having shared her life and those who will miss her are her children: Shirley (Paul) Stangeland of Puyallup, Washington, Royce (Peg) Quamen of Garretson, David (Janet) Quamen of Crooks, Karen (Joe) Vandersnick of Garretson, and Ona (John) Reker of Jasper, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Ben (Helen) Stave of Freemont, Nebraska, and Donald (Jerry) Stave of Bentonville, Arkansas; and two sisters: Aggie Haaland of Fargo, North Dakota, and Joyce (Mike) Muth of Britton.


Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
