Marion Jones, 81 of Chester died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Madison Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 29, 2006 at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, rural Colton. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery, rural Colton. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.
Marion was born June 27, 1924 at Hawarden, Iowa to parents A. E. and Esther (Kaske) Jones. He grew up on the family farm near Hawarden and attended country school near there. After his education he farmed with his father near Hawarden until they moved to a farm near Buffalo Trading Post in 1955. He farmed there until moving into Chester in 1976. He then did road construction for Howard Johnson during the summers.
Marion married Viola Westergard on August 15, 1946 in Ireton, Iowa.
He was very active in the National Farmers Organization. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Ireton, Iowa and was a member of the St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, Colton.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Viola Jones, Chester; three sons, Kelly and his wife Cheryl, Madison; Ron and his wife Ella, Gillette, Wyoming; Rob and his special friend, Angie, Sioux Falls; a grandson, Tory Jones, Lakeville, Minnesota; two step grandsons, Rick Wiseman and his wife Amber and their children, Randy, Kaitlyn, and Emma; and Robert Wiseman; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Alta Myers and a daughter in law, Kim Jones.
