Dale Allen De Jong

Dale A. De Jong, 55, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Taopi Community Hall in Colton. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.

Dale was born January 2, 1954 in Sioux Falls to parents Jake and Gertrude (Van Duyn) De Jong. He grew up in the Colton area and attended Colton Grade School. Dale entered the United States Army on August 5, 1972 and was discharged December 18, 1973. He returned to the Colton area and was employed in the construction business working for Oberg’s in Colton, Buskerud’s Construction, Dell Rapids and at the present time for Soukup Construction in Sioux Falls. Dale married Karen Bremer in January of 1997.

He enjoyed fishing with his father and family. He was a long time member of the Colton American Legion.

Survivors include his mother, Gertrude De Jong, Colton; a brother, Ron De Jong, Humboldt; three sisters, Mary (Allan) Weinacht, Carol (Jim) Mitchell, and Lori (Mike) Sehr, all of Colton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jake DeJong on January 11, 2001.
