Arnold “Arnie” Nytroe, 87, of Crooks, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Funeral Services will be at 1:00PM Saturday, April 29, 2006 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 7:00 pm Friday with the family present from 7-8:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Arnold C. Nytroe was born July 28, 1918 at Madison, South Dakota to parents Carl J. and Laura (Larson) Nytroe. Arnold moved to Crooks in 1934. He married Dorothy M. Nelson October 2, 1936 at Canton, South Dakota. He was in the trucking business with his father and then served in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge he worked for the Crooks Elevator for a number of years. He also worked on the Benton Township roads and for Schoeneman’s Lumber Company for several years.
Arnie was an active member of the West Nidaros Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and traveling with his family.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dorothy of Sioux Falls; his sons, Jerry and his wife Mary Nytroe of Sioux Falls, Marvin Nytroe and his wife Mary of Brandon, and Norman Nytroe of Alexandria, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Judy Nytroe of Hartford; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great great grand children; and many other relatives and friend.
Arnie was preceded in death by a son Richard, a daughter-in-law, LuAnn Nytroe, and a brother, Kermit Nytroe.
