Charles “Charlie” Austin, 61, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Garretson, died on October 26, 2009, at his home in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 2, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Visitation will be from 3-5:00 P.M. Sunday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
Charles Vincent Austin was born on March 15, 1948, at Flandreau, South Dakota, to Robert Sr. and Adeline (Rentschler) Austin. He was raised and received his education in Garretson, South Dakota. After his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965. After his discharge in 1971, Charlie moved back to Garretson and then to Sioux Falls. He worked most of his life as a truck driver from which he retired from in 1983.
Charlie liked motorcycles and made several trips to Sturgis. He was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He looked forward to daily coffee sessions at Sunshine Foods with his friends. Charlie loved to help people and would often help family members with their cars. But most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Staci (Tony) Graff and their children: Cody Bose, Brit Bose, Nathan Graff, Nicholas Graff and Serena Graff, of Sioux Falls and Aaron (Janelle) Austin and their children: Noah Austin and Jayden Austin, of Sioux Falls; brother, Rick Austin, St. Cloud, Minnesota; sister, Renae Asfeha, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert, Jr., Kevin and Jody.
