Lorraine Aspaas, 89, of Renner died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids.
Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be in the East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic.
Lorraine was born November 2, 1920 in Sioux Falls. She lived with her grandmother for a few years and later lived with her parents Artlin and Stella (Casperson) Nessan near Renner. She graduated from Lyons High School.
Lorraine married Ole Aspaas April 26, 1941 in Renner. After their marriage they farmed in the Renner area until 1971. After retiring from farming they continued to live in the Renner area. She also worked the concession stand for the Renner Monarch Baseball games and for Nelson Concessions for a few years. Lorraine moved to Terrace Manor in 2001.
Lorraine was a long time member of the Renner Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling throughout the country with her husband.
Survivors include her husband, Ole Aspaas, Dell Rapids; her children, Alan Aspaas, Renner; Donna Brende, Crooks; Kay Aspaas, Sioux Falls; Shari (Kevin) Brende, Renner, ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother in law, Thomas (Shirley) Aspaas, Surprise, AZ; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son in law, Keith Brende.
