Jody L. Austin

Jody Austin, 52, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Garretson passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM Monday with the family present from 5 to 7:00 PM at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson.

Jody was born May 17, 1956 in Sioux Falls to parents Robert, Sr. and Adeline (Rentschler) Austin. He was raised and received his education in Garretson. He worked in the food service industry for most of his life. He especially liked his employment at Sunshine Foods in Sioux Falls.

Jody liked spending time with family at their gatherings and was always anxious to get the card games started. He enjoyed watching baseball on television, always cheering for the Minnesota Twins. He looked forward to daily coffee sessions at Sunshine Foods with his brother and friends. Jody often talked about his motorcycle trips to Sturgis with his brother Chuck.

Grateful for having shared his life are two sons, Joseph Lee and Robert Curtis Austin; two grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Austin, Sioux Falls and Rick Austin, St. Cloud, MN; sister, Renae Asfeha, Sioux Falls and numerous other relatives and friends.

Jody was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr. and Adeline Austin and two brothers, Robert, Jr. and Kevin Austin.
