Esther Jones

Esther M. Jones, 88, of Garretson died Friday, January 23, 2009 at Palisade Manor in Garretson.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Burial will be in the Summit Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Esther was born to parents Anna and Charles Harnack July 1, 1920 at Garretson. She was baptized and confirmed at Unity Evangelical Church at Garretson.
She married Ted Fresvik January 8, 1950. They had two daughters, Teddy Ann and Judy Kay. They owned and operated Ted and Esther’s Grocery Store in Garretson. Ted passed away November 11, 1961. She was married to Gordon Jones June 2, 1968 and they made their home in Garretson. Gordon passed away on October 5, 1994. Esther continued to work at Palisade Manor as the music therapist for several years, a job that she truly enjoyed.

She is remembered by her daughters, Teddy Ann (Robert) Tupper, Renner; Judy (Jeffrey) Evenson, Garretson; step sons, LeRoy (Marlys) Jones, Rock Rapids, Iowa; Larry (Cathy) Jones, Shelton, Washington; Keith (Teri) Jones, Brandon; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two special nieces, Ella Mae Baltzer and Henrietta Brebner, both of Garretson. She was preceded in death by two step sons, Claude and Rodney, a sister, Lillian Fix, and a niece, Carol Esther Fix.
