Martha Frances Aldrich

February 21, 1920 — October 22, 2009

Martha F. Aldrich, 89, of Dell Rapids passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, October 26, 2009 at United Methodist Church in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.

Martha Frances Kampf was born February 21, 1920 at Hartford, South Dakota to parents Carl and Emma (Ebersviller) Kampf. She attended Hartford Grade School and High School, graduating in 1938. She attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls and worked as a secretary for Dempster Mill Company. Martha worked at Douglas Aircraft in California with her sister.

Martha married Earl Aldrich November 28, 1942 in the United Methodist Church in Hartford. They farmed northwest of Hartford for 17 years until purchasing a farm near Dell Rapids. The couple retired in 1982. She worked part time for JC Penny’s, Town and Country Café, Terrace Manor, Dakota Industries and as a teacher’s aide in Baltic. Earl passed away September 28, 2006.

Martha was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge in Hartford and Dells Rocky Run Golf Course. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, dancing and golfing with friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are a daughter, Cheryl (Dennis) Krier, Sioux Falls; son, Donald (Susan) Aldrich, Renner; grandchildren, Renae (John) Pekas; Aja (Ryan) Goff; Ainsley (Will) Perry; Kelly Vietor; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Pekas; Benjamin Pekas; Hayden Goff; Nolan Goff; Aubrielle Perry; and many other relatives and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Lois Tobin and Lorraine McLeod; and two brothers, Willard and Herman Kampf.
