Robert "Bob" Eggers

Robert “Bob” Eggers, 75, of Renner, SD passed away on April 2, 2009, leaving behind family and friends mournful for their loss and grateful for the privilege of having known such a vibrant, caring, fun and loving person.

Robert Earlan Eggers was born on September 11, 1933. He attended a country school, the Eggers School near Renner, and graduated from Brandon High School in 1951. He married the love of his life, Carol Eggers, in Sioux Falls on November 26th, 1955. He served in the Air Force as a jet pilot until 1958, and served 6 years in the Air Force Reserve in Sioux Falls and 15 years in the South Dakota Air National Guard.

For over 40 years, Bob worked as an investigator for Equifax. A member of the American Legion Board of Directors, Go-Getters and Honor Guard, he was named Legionnaire of the Year by the Sioux Falls chapter of the American Legion in March 2009. He was also an active member of the Elks Club and the Moose Lodge.

Bob lived in Renner for 51 years, and was an active member of Renner Lutheran Church. He cherished golfing, was the vice-president of the Renner Monarchs baseball team for 25 years and attended almost every game, and loved sharing laughs with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Grateful for having shared their life with Bob are his wife Carol, Renner, son Shane Eggers, New Bury Park, CA , daughters Lisa Blythe (Jeff), Phoenix, AZ, Jodi Loveland (Joe), St. Paul, MN, Kelle Eggers, Sioux Falls, brother Curtis (Jean), and sisters Eleanor Emmel, Delores Christenson (Richard), Darlene Thoreson (Richard), grandchildren, Kelsey Quan, Kaitlin Quan, Robert Eggers, Alex Loveland, Sam Loveland, Peter Loveland and countless friends and extended family.

Preceding him in death are his mother Minnie (Moe) Eggers, father Elmer, father and mother in-law Fred and Jeanette Slobe, brother-in-law Del Emmel, son-in-law Mike Hiller and sister-in-law Peggy (Williamson) Slobe.

Visitation for the public will be at Renner Lutheran Church in Renner from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services and a celebration of Bob’s life will take place at Renner Lutheran Church in Renner at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009. Later that day, he will be laid to rest at Hills of Rest Mausoleum in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
