John L. Tapken

John L. Tapken, 49, of Sioux Falls died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Visitation with the family present will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic.
John was born July 15, 1959 in Sioux Falls to parents Gayland and Lois Yvonne (Berg) Tapken. He moved with his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school. He worked in the maintenance department at Hillcrest Hospital for 15 years. In 2005 he returned to Sioux Falls.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Carpenter, Collinsville, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Brennan and Caden Carpenter; his mother, Lois Yvonne Tapken, Sioux Falls; three aunts and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gayland in 1976, an infant brother, Joseph; and his grandparents, Joseph and Julie Berg and Margaret and Fred Tapken.
