Kenneth K. Anderson

December 16, 1918 — November 10, 2008

Kenneth K. Anderson, age 89, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Garretson, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial services will begin at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Garretson American Legion.

He was born December 16, 1918 in Beaver Creek, Minnesota, the youngest boy of 12 children to John and Anna Andersen. He was a veteran of WWII, spending his time as a gunner’s mate on a troop transport ship in the Pacific Ocean. He was married to Geraldine Polzin in 1943. Most of his early life was spent in and around the Garretson community as a farmer, building contractor and later as the proprietor of Garretson Lanes.

In 1963 the family moved to southern California where he worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. He assisted in building parts for the lunar module used during the manned landing on the moon. After retirement he moved the Desert Shores, a sport fishing town in California. Fishing was his favorite pastime and many of his children’s fondest memories are of family fishing trips. His second wife, Charlotte, passed away in 1994.

Because of ill health he moved back to the Garretson area into an assisted living home in 2003. He is survived by children, Rodney (Bonnie) Anderson, Antioch, Tn., Muriel Titus, Murfreesboro, Tn., Bonnie (Kip) Farmer, Millville, UT., grandchildren, Karen (Terry) Cook, Oro Valley, AZ., Joshua (Leah) Titus, Rockvale, TN., Lee Anderson, Antioch, TN., Jason Anderson, Antioch, Tn., Matthew (Charity) Farmer, Syracuse, UT., Benjamin (Anna) Farmer, Logan, UT., Luke Farmer, Millville, UT., Tim Farmer, Millville, UT., great grandchildren Jacob Titus, Joel Titus, Elizabeth Titus, Rockvale, Tn., Joel Farmer, Syracuse, Ut., Daphne Farmer, Logan, UT. He is also survived by four sisters, Ann Loken, Sioux Falls, SD., Evelyn Huyser, Brookings, SD., Gladys Brown, Largo, FL., and Doris Pomorski, Erie, PA. Because of his love for animals, please make remembrances to your local Humane Society.
