Kevin Richard Butrum

Kevin R. Butrum, age 54, of Garretson, died last week at his home. Memorial services will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Memorial visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.


Kevin was born on June 14, 1954, to Rayburn and Eleanor Geraldine (Stalheim) Butrum in Sioux Falls. He grew up around Garretson, graduated from the Garretson High School and then attended South Dakota State University. Following his education, Kevin worked in Alaska and has since farmed on the family farm for over 30 years.


Kevin was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He returned to Alaska on many occasions to hunt and Canada and the Missouri River to fish. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his strong opinions. He also greatly enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his siblings: Keith R. (Holly A.M.) Butrum, Veblen, South Dakota; Renee (Bruce) Boehrns, Volin, South Dakota and Jeneane (Douglas Hornseth) Butrum, Richfield, Minnesota; nephew, Heath Butrum and nieces, Audra Boehrns and family; and Heidi Boehrns and family.
