Duane Arthur Rogness of Renner passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was surrounded by his loving family, and began his journey to heaven with honors and recognition of his military service.

Duane was born September 19, 1929 in Melrose, WI to Arthur and Effie (Ristow) Rogness. He lived in Wisconsin until the 7th grade when the family moved to Garretson, SD. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was able to fulfill his lifelong passion of farming with his wife Dorothy (Sandberg), whom he married on May 29, 1954. They were married 63 ½ years, and farmed for 62 of those years near Renner. He served on the Minnehaha County Planning Board, was active in the South Dakota Farm Bureau, served as chairman of the Baltic Elevator Board, served as the Mapleton Township clerk for many years, and various church boards at Benton Lutheran Church in Crooks, SD.

Duane is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his children Diane Rogness (Brian Peterson) of New Salem, ND; Susan (Arnie) Martens of Sioux Falls; David (Dixie) Rogness of Lyons; and Carrie Rogness (Mark Sibley) of Rochester, MN; as well as his sister, Carol Blaisdell of St. Paul, MN; brother Allen Rogness of Minneapolis; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Orville and Elaine Lonneman of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a funeral service and burial on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Benton Lutheran Church.
