Henry Van Heerde

Henry Van Heerde, 86, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Colton, died Friday, December 29, 2017, at VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral Home. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery, Colton. Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton is assisting the family.
Henry was born April 8, 1931 at Colton to parents Ben and Jennie (Brummell) Van Heerde. He grew up near Colton and attended school there. He entered the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean Conflict until his discharge in 1955.
He returned to Sioux Falls and worked for Sioux Falls Construction until his retirement. Henry married Delores Mae Brown December 1, 1990.
Survivors include his children: Jimmy (Angie) Brown, Pat Phelps, Karolin (Ron Pittenger) Phelps, and Faith (fiancé, Steve Ballenger) Carpenter; his sister, Jeanette (Ronald) Feltcher; sisters in law, Johanna Van Heerde and Lois Van Heerde; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores, and brothers, Ed, John, Joseph, Gerrit and Bennett.
