Henrietta “Hank” Ann Brebner passed away peacefully at Palisades Manor on December 27, 2017. Memorial services will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Visitation will begin at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Summit Hill Cemetery, Garretson.
Henrietta Fix was born July 15 th , 1930 in Garretson. She spent the majority of her life living in Garretson raising her 5 children. She grew up on her parents’ farm outside of Garretson until she was married to Lloyd Eitreim and moved to Sioux Falls and Rapid City before eventually settling in Garretson.
Henrietta worked at the Palisade Manor when it first opened as the Head Cook/Dietician. She later went on to own her own café in the Garretson bowling alley where she developed her well renowned potato and macaroni salads.
She also enjoyed volunteering at the Jesse James Cabin in the Gulch. She enjoyed meeting new people from around the world to share the story of how Jesse James escaped the posse by jumping the now famous Jesse James gap in the Gulch. Henrietta enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was known to her friends as “Hank”. Her Grandchildren called her “Grandma Hank”.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents Lilian and Clarence Fix, her husband Lloyd Eitreim, her sisters Carol Fix and Ella Mae Baltzer and her son Ronald “Goudy” Eitreim.
Henrietta is survived by her daughter, Ann and Chuck Jess (Steen Minn.); sons: Gordon Eitreim (Garretson), Richard and Joni Brebner (Zion IL), and Todd and Melissa Brebner (Pleasanton CA); 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
