Kermit Noel Oehlke, 70 of Baltic passed away Friday, October 6, 2017, peacefully, surrounded by loving family at his side.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.
He was born June 18, 1947, to Roger and Elsie (Patterson) who farmed, near Cottage Grove, MN. He was the third of eight siblings and nine step siblings. He attended school in Newport and St. Paul Park, MN, before moving to Sioux Falls in 1963.
Kermit spent most of his early years in the welding profession. He was united in marriage to Mary Aust on February 17, 1969, of which they were blessed with three children, Teresa (Mark) Wood, Tamara (James) Bietz, and Travis (Kim) Oehlke.
He later married Betty Quarve on April 19, 1986, who had three sons, Robert, Douglas, and Craig. Kermit and Betty began their love of farming near Baltic, SD. While on the farm he built Northwest Ag Services, of which he owned and operated until the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife Betty, six children, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, six siblings, six step siblings, and numerous relatives and friends.
Kermit’s zest for life will never be forgotten.
