Mary Lou Theodosen, 88, of Sioux Falls formerly of Okoboji, Iowa and Garretson, SD passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at her Home.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Garretson.

Mary Lou (Bigelow) Theodosen was born on November 11, 1928 to parents Cora Lenora (Gardner) and Ralph Bigelow in Lester, IA. She attended the Lester School system until moving to Garretson, SD for her Junior and Senior years graduating Garretson High School in 1946. After attending SDSU, Brookings, SD she returned to Garretson and worked for Judge A.C. Halls as a secretary and tax preparer.
Mary married John M. Theodosen on April 18, 1953. They made their home in Garretson where Mary continued as a tax preparer for over 40 years in the Theodosen Law Office. They spent their summers in Okoboji, IA with family and friends enjoying the lake.
Mary enjoyed community activities. She was a member of the Henry G. Fix Auxiliary for over 50 years and Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson, SD.

After her husband’s death on April 18, 1996, Mary moved to Sioux Falls, SD. She enjoyed many activities including the Sioux Falls Symphony, Washington Pavilion and Welcome Club to name a few. An avid bridge player she enjoyed playing the card game with her friends. She was also an avid reader. Mary continued to spend summers in Okoboji going to plays, concerts, playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends.

Mary was a very happy person who wanted happiness for her friends, family and all of the world. She was generous in giving and helping those around her. She had a quick wit and a big heart. She was blessed with a great group of women who cared for her in her home when her health started to fail. Her healthcare ladies’ loved her and treated her with grace, dignity, compassion and love. She referred to them as “Her Girls”.

Grateful for sharing her life are daughter Mary Belinda “Binkie” Graves, Sioux Falls, SD, her husband Wendell Graves, Salt Lake City, UT, grandson Nicholas John “Nick” Graves, Salt Lake City, UT, daughter Melissa Jane “Missie” Theodosen, her life partner Michael “Ernie” Eddy and their dog Lou Lou the Yorkie, Okoboji, IA and Kerrville, TX. Lou Lou was very special to Mary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandparents.
