Harriet A. De Vries, 69, of Madison formerly of the Chester area died peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Home, Madison.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Monday July 31, 2017 at First Reformed Church, Colton. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Sunday at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton.

Harriet was born March 17, 1948 at Hull, Iowa to parents Henry and Bernice (Van Der Vliet) Vink. She moved with her parents to the Colton area in 1954. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1966. After high school she worked for Bell Telephone as an operator. While attending Sioux Falls College she met Lowell De Vries. They were married March 30, 1970 at First Reformed Church in Colton. After their marriage they lived south of Colton until 1977, when they moved to the Chester-Madison area. She worked as a teller for Dakota State Bank and Home Federal Savings and Loan until her retirement in 2010.

Harriet was an active member of the First Reformed Church, RCW, and the Dakota Heritage Corn pickers. She was also active in the Chester Area School activities. She enjoyed being involved with antique tractors, camping and attending her children and grandchildren events.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Lowell, Madison, children, Deanna (Scott) Reiff, Wentworth; Jon (Susie Harvey) De Vries, Wentworth; David (Heather) De Vries, Chester; Harold (Heather) De Vries, Chester; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Ranae) Vink, Colton; sisters, Bonnie (Ivan) Van Duyn, Mt. Vernon, WA; Betty (Warren) Oberg, Colton; Barb (Dennis) Christensen, Crooks; Julie (Jeff) Sarver, Oostburg, WI; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold.
